Our pets are a very important part of our lives. They are our best friends and members of our families. So, when we are faced with the loss of a pet, we can be overwhelmed with grief. Whether our pet's death has come unexpectedly, or after a long illness, we can have many different emotions. We may feel sad, confused, hurt, guilty, and lonely.

Your beloved pet is gone, and what remains are feelings of loneliness and emptiness. At this time, support is very important, and may be difficult to find. Not everyone understands just how special the bonds are between humans and their animals. A lack of support prolongs the grief, so it's important to find someone who will listen and understand.

In order to help you deal with your grief, a compassionate support group is available. This group will help you to understand the grieving process, and allow you to share your feelings with others who have had a similar experience.

Anyone who has experienced the loss of a pet, or who is anticipating the loss of a pet is invited to attend the support groups. The support group is run on a donation basis.

The meetings will be held at Joyful Spirit Counseling Center (9500 Highland Rd., Ste. 6A, Howell, MI... click here for a map), the third Monday of each month from 7-8:30 pm. For more information, please call 517-898-5094, or e-mail kim@Joyful-Spirit.com

In addition to the group, free e-mail support is also available. In this way, it is still possible for those unable to attend the group to be able to share the feelings associated with their pet loss. E-mail kim@Joyful-Spirit.com.
